Remi/Rough Show – Urban Angel – London

Some artists that I have had the pleasure to meet need no introduction. Remi is one of those artists. A talent with literally no boundaries he ceases to amaze me from piece to piece and show to show. Whereas some installations and wall pieces can grab your attention for a few seconds before you smile and move on, with Remi you can get lost in his pieces, and often become submerged amongst the layers. Needless to say his work can only be truly appreciated face to piece. Therefore if your in London this week check out the show at Urban Angel (Special preview 18th June). If you haven’t been living on earth for the past decade and need a little more convincing, I’m not going to twist your arm, the work speaks for itself so see more photos after the Jump.

Like all the artists we showcase on breaksof10 its not just the artwork its the character behind the can. Remi for me is the true gentleman of the scene. With people travelling far and wide for his shows he can be found on the gallery floor greeting his supporters and showcasing his appreciation for their presence. I first met Remi last year during a solo show in Aberdeen and never before have I witnessed a show with such tempo. With the art space located through narrow walk ways within the city centre I honestly didn’t know what to expect. When I arrived I was truly blown away by how much time and attention had been given to the space. The gallery walls had been attacked with his trademark sharp cutting lines and amazing colours. With great lighting and a full DJ set the night was more like a secret club night. Safe to say I have been keeping my eye on Remi since.

When I caught up with Remi early this week its clear he has been unbelievably busy in the last twelve months. This recent snap is from an installation that System and Remi completed at the Museum of Fine art in Spain.

This Piece from 401 Contemporary in Berlin features LX One, Timid, and System.

Two pieces (above and top) again from this year showcase that real depth and versatility that has made the duo an international phenomenon. Two somewhat traditionally conflicting styles embracing each other in overwhelming harmony. Too good.
