Nuno Oliveira Photography

This mini interview and feature came about when Nuno liked one of the photos on my flickr, I was pretty taken aback and stoked as I’m a avid fan of his photography on flickr and his site olivejuuuuice. This lead me to get in contact and see if he was down for a mini interview and a feature, luckily he was. Like Joe Skilton, who I posted on earlier, Nuno does a lot of his work with film camera, especially Lomo’s, and I love how he cross processes a lot of his snaps, giving them a whole new feel and edge. Check out the photos and a mini interview below.

So Nuno, when and why did you get into photography?

I got into photography about 2-3 years ago actually, so not very long. My dad has always been into photography, but I got fully drawn in from shooting a photo with my friend Harrison’s digi-cam, haha.

What cameras do you favour, because I know you use a lot of different ones?

I’m constantly impressed with my Lomo LC-A, especially with good film. Of all the “lomography” cameras, I think the LC-A is the most official. My Canon DSLR gets a lot of play too.

For you, what makes the perfect photo?

Just a certain “wow” factor. I know that sounds like a generic answer, but someone could shoot a lonely tree in a big field or whatever and it could look totally interesting. For me, it doesn’t always have to do with the best technically advanced/sharpest/well lit composed photo. You can shoot a winner with a disposable camera if everything lines up.

Photo-wise, where do you draw inspiration?

Other peoples work, or friends or what? There’s a lot of really good stuff on Flickr actually, from regular ol’ people. I always see great stuff on there. And yes, a bunch of my friends do great work as well. I don’t really have any famous photographers that I could rattle off or anything.

Do you have a favourite photo?

Not really, no. I like a lot of my photos, but not one that would be my favorite.

Thanks!

Thank you for having me :)
