Rebel 8 was started 6 years ago with ¢500 and no outside investors and no corporate management, just one man with the motivation to follow his dream. Since then Rebel 8 has quite the following from its fans and has evolved into one of the most respected street wear brands in the game. This is the second season of Rebel 8′s new cut n sew line, so I caught up with Rebel 8′s owner Joshy D to find out more about it!

So Joshy, why the expansion into cut n sew?
Just organic growth for the brand and a way to really show what REBEL8 is. It’s another way to define and showcase our brand to the world.
What do you think Rebel 8 offers with this line that others don’t?
It’s more mature and a strong progression of the company. Spring ’10 is our second cut and sew season.
Rebel 8 has been running 6 years now, and this is your second cut n sew collection, was this a pre-planned time frame or is this just the natural evolution of the brand?
There was no plan years ago that on our 6th year we’d launch it. It really was just what happened. Being I own the entire company and have no outside money or investors, we are fully self-funded and one negative to that is that growth must be very well budgeted.

Do you have a favourite piece in the line?
It’d have to be the Hackney jacket
Is there any garments you want to offer in future but haven’t had the chance so far?
Bottoms
What’s next for Rebel 8?
If I told you what fun would anything be? Just expect us to not only be ourselves but constantly and consistently push the boundaries on what is REBEL8 and how far we can take it.
Thanks!
