Kate Moross Interview

I’m pleased to welcome aboard Yuriko to the Breaksof10 team, she’s joining us as a contribution writer, and she’s kicking things off with this interview with Kate Moross. Welcome aboard Yuriko!

Remember when you were in your early teens and you had one friend who you truly idolized. A crush if you will, not of celebrity status but just that bit older, that bit untouchable and does everything with a signature edge of cool. I was very fortunate to have Kate Moross as my teen crush, a year older than me and a friend from summer camp, I was sure her pores leaked talent. She could sing, climb trees, she was allowed to go shopping in Camden without adult supervision and bought the coolest things like No Doubt albums and shag bands in their hundreds.

Kate and I drifted apart a long time ago, we grew up in different directions after summer camp stopped. But with her immense success it’s not hard to keep track of what she’s up to and evidently her unique style has done nothing but continue to flourish. Now that we’re older Kate is a designer, illustrator, photographer and runs the vinyl only label Isomorphs. Her clients include giants such as Vogue, Simian Mobile Disco, Kiehl’s and Vice magazine to name but a few.

Kate’s vision is usually defined by geometric shapes, most notably the triangle and fluid, flowing typography that is astoundingly formulaic yet wonderfully aesthetically pleasing. It’s always a delight for the eyes to see perfection down to every line and corner.Luckily for you readers Kate used some of her rare free moments to answer a few questions, for all other info check out http://katemoross.blogspot.com/

Don’t really have one, there are so many people that I admire!

A big Thank You to Kate for taking time out to send over her answers. Her inbox I’m sure looks like that scene in Bruce Almighty where he deals with universal requests via e-mail. A lot of people have asked and will continue to wonder how can they achieve what Kate has achieved. Young artists everywhere right now are pondering; ‘How can I be the next Kate Moross?.’ Of course Kate’s is a tale of an incredible, unrelentless work ethic. But I say to you all, there will only ever be one Kate Moross.
