Remi Rough / Steve More & The Boiler Room

The best thing about moving to a new city? Without a doubt exploring all the new places and meeting all the new people. As much as I loved Newcastle, and I love all my friends there dearly, but there’s only so many times I can go to the same club, the same gallery, the same food spot, before it becomes stale. That said, it’s all about the people not the places. Last night I went to check out the Remi/Rough & Steve More joint show in Shoreditch. I’ve been looking forward to this for a while, and it didn’t disappoint.

Danny was there in spirit, even though he couldn’t make it last minute, he hooked up the Brooklyn Beer bar, which was awesome as I love that beer.

I love Remi’s stuff, I’m already planning my dream flat where that piece on the right would take centra stage in my living room

Steve More’s stuff is dope too, it’s graffiti influenced, but you’d never guess on first inspection

Best part of the show was getting to finally meet Remi in person, he’s a big fan of the Breaks and it was awesome to be able to finally put a face to the name.

After the show I rode over to Dalston to check out the Boiler room. I’ve heard enough hype about this place, and I was keen to check it out. It’s guestlist only, and that’s only if you know somebody involved or are a friend of the DJ. The format is it’s in a small warehouse space, with the decks in the middle of the room, and the entire night is broadcast over webcam, and streamed online. Each time the line ups are a who’s who of progressive UK bass music, and it’s one of the core events shaping the scene.

Witts from BNTL was on hand to capture the action

Last night was the Swamp 81 takeover, and Pinch, Addison Groove and Loefah all smacked it.

It’s also a bring your own booze, you can smoke inside sorta affair, it’s pretty laid back

Addison Groove killed it live

Gutted I missed the James Blake and Roska nights, but I’ll be back.
