Originally from Sheffield, Kidnap Kid now resides in Leeds. He is the first artist in a new feature which asks the 10 magic questions, some of which are creepy, all are most definitely interesting. The name has come from him staging a pretend kidnapping in KFC which went wrong where people didn't see the big capital 'ONLY JOKING' image placed on the whole episode. He has a remix coming out on FAT! records and his other tracks are being played by the likes of Sinden, Dubbell Dutch, Hackman and as well as Rinse.fm, which doesn't seem to work for me anymore.

I'm Matt Relton, and I write music as Kidnap Kid.
2. Do you put your socks on before or after your trousers?
Socks first, although now I think about that does seem odd.
3. Which artist would you most like to work with and why?
Something with Fantastic Mr Fox would be great, that guy oozes soul. If we're talking pipe dreams then probably Bonobo.
4. First single you bought?
Avalanches – Frontier Psychiatrist. Still a favourite for sure.
5. Word of the day?
I squeezed arcane into a conversation earlier so we'll go with that one.
6. What is your setup when it comes to writing tracks?
Just a shit laptop with Cubase/Reason and a pair of Beyerdynamic DT 770 headphones.
7. Record you wish you had written?
The Beatles – Yesterday Who is going to blow up and own this year? Tessela, no idea why he isn't huge already.
8. What has the future got in store?
Hopefully writing and playing lots more music. I have degree to finish, but any spare time I have is massively concentrated on that. Maybe with some projects moving away from dance music as well . . .

First release ‘No One Else’ forthcoming on Squelch & Clap in June time.
