Top 10 Photos: Josh MG

The next in our Top 10 photos comes from London based photographer Josh MG, who like some other photographers we've featured, found it difficult to whittle it down to 10, so this is really a 'Top 11 photos'. Josh cut his teeth documenting the thriving London bass scene, as as we see here, the aftermath as well. His photos are natural, full of character and as a fan of portrait photography, something I aspire to.

Anyone that hates doing posed photos in party situations will tell you how much they despise it when a group taps on your shoulder and signal you to take their photo. This was one of the occasions.  They must have asked me about 5 times before I finally relented. Thankfully I did as this image went onto be a runner up in last years Kopparberg Klash. Shot at Notting Hill Carnival, the shared expression between the four boys, for me typifies the attitude of young males in London.  I let you decide what that is…

This is one of my proudest photos from my days shooting the London bass scene. I think it pretty much speaks for itself…

My good friend and artist, Leo Cohen is probably one of my favourite subjects. We’ve know each other for years and I've taken so many photos of him that he doesn’t even notice when I've got my lens on him nowadays and when he does he just plays up to it. The man’s a total camera whore.

After party fun always leads to some pretty good photo opportunities, this night/morning was no exception. I just love the fact that no matter how rock 'n' roll or hardcore you think you might be every man ends up in the foetal position.

I love shooting The Heatwave boys but especially Ben. Some people are just so incredibly natural and in front of the camera and seem to really enjoy themselves.

Sean from The Score wasn’t the most confident of subject’s at first but as you can see that was an extremely shortlived worry.

7am, Primrose Hill, cross dressing son of an embassy official, of which country I unfortunately cannot tell you.  This was shot as myself and the rest of the stragglers were told to do one.

I shot this for iDJ, unfortunately it hit the cutting floor but its still one of my favourite shots of Marco Del Horno.

Michal wont mind me saying this as he’s pretty used to it; he's basically very “special” I feel this image captures that rather endearing edge of his personality…

I love narcoleptic couples. They are so cute. They remind me that no matter what, love don’t discriminate. I shot this on my Yashica, its basically a part of my being.

It doesn’t take much guessing why I love this photo so much, its all about the girl. Her expression and the way she hold’s Jonny’s head is priceless.  Shortly after I took this the ambulance arrive and Jonny died on the way to the hospital.

*Note to reader: Jonny didn’t really die.
