The Two Door Cinema Club are a Northern Irish based trio who’s catchy, upbeat electro-indie sound is easily identifiable from the very first note. The band consists of Alex Trimble, Kevin Baird and Sam Halliday, whose lives have been turned upside down this past year, by the wide spread attention their music has received.
You may have noticed that since the birth of breaksof10 we have often mentioned the Electrik Sheep in our content. Calm down animal rights activists there’s nothing sinister here rather a northern culture hub consisting of a streetwear store and gallery built upon the foundations of a graphic design agency; Reluctant Hero. Pure and simple Breaksof10 would not exist if it were not for this beacon of creative peoples. Therefore here is a long overdue introduction.
Anyone that knows me knows that I’ve been a huge MSTRKRFT fan for a good while now, and got rather over excited when they released their second album ‘Fist Of God’ a few months back. This is the first single from the new album, and features John Legend’s sultry tones, which actually works really well, and is pretty much a perfect example of a RnB / Electro crossover. I love this track, but it’s getting loads of airplay now and I even heard it in ASDA the other day, which took me back a little. Regardless, I’m loving the video. Also, after the jump, check out MSTRKRFT and John performing it live on David Letterman last month.
Couldn’t resist this purchase from the guys over at Electrik Sheep. Plain and simple a nostalgia shrouded gadget with day to day function and fly. This ZipZip 1GB USB “Memory Brick” conceals itself as a classic LEGO brick with a difference.

Both Tom and I have also purchased classic Lomography Fish Eye cameras from 22 Pink Lane and will be posting some of the results soon!
Viral video or not, this is awesome! Danny and myself actually heard about this way back in February, and it’s rumoured that red Bull built Robbie a replica in his back yard to practice on, which is nuts! This is of course in the build up to Red Bull X Fighters bieng in London on the 22nd August, and don’t worry, Breaks will be there.
If you’re stuck for something to listen to today, check this out. This is the second free playlist from Urban Outfitters Europe that you can listen to online. The personal link here is that my mate Rob Loeber is the web designer for UO Europe, so he did all the cool images for the tracks. I’m loving the vintage holidays photos, looks awesome!
I first met Amy last year on a random and rather awesome Red Bull trip we were invited on together. She made loads of paper ducks on the train as a means of promotion, and left them wherever we went in London. She’s a University graduate in graphic design who rather than do what everyone else did, forged her own path, away from the computer and towards the printing press and pencil. Amy’s artwork impresses me because it’s never quite what I expect, which I love. She had her first solo show last week at Electrik Sheep in Newcastle, and by all accounts it was a huge success. Myself and her older sister Laura caught up with her over some beers at the after party and we fired a few questions her way.
Our man Jay, who we interviewed when Breaks started, has done it again, along with his partner in crime Devon who together make up Decibel. They’ve remixed Rye Rye’s ‘Bang’, even if she didn’t know about it. Regardless it’s a huge tune and it’s been a lot of love around the blogosphere. Check it out after the jump!
It’s no secret that I’m a huge bag nerd. I don’t know what it is, I just really like super functional bags, and I think I’ve found the best of the best. I was lucky enough to get my hands on the messenger bag from Incase, and boy is it sweet. So far it’s been the length of the country with me, from Glasgow to Canterbury, and Edinburgh to London, and everywhere in between. It’s showerproof, durable, fits in everything I need for a weekend away including laptop, camera and chargers and has faux-fur lined laptop sleeve and iPhone pocket. It’s also comfy as hell, and has a relective strip that looks black, until the cars lights shines on it. Incase have nailed it. Check out some photos after the jump.
I love everything about this hat. Its looks, the fact that the back end is lighter and more breathable, making it perfect for summer, that the underside of the brim is reflective and that Lavar is one of my favorite clothing companies. Plus rather than being made in a sweatshop abroad, it’s made in LA! You can’t actually get these in the UK, and I was lucky enough to have Mike Ardelean, who runs Lavar, to send me one over. So thanks Mike! You can check out more photos after the jump.
