Shepard Fairey lends his hand to a new political cause in the form of detained elected Prime Minister Aung San Suu Kyi. The Barrack Obama electoral poster created by Fairey somehow managed to elevate Barrack from candidacy way beyond iconic status. This depiction of hope captured the hearts and minds of people not just in the US but across the globe. It transcended beyond the controversy and scandal of modern day politics to a place of purity, representing a new day, and a new beginning. The Hope image will outlive the man as a symbol for good, that one man can overcome adversary, and ultimately bring change. We gave our support in droves. However, today, one woman faces even greater obstacles in the fight for justice and change. She has been detained for her beliefs and principles. For this reason the world should be watching.
I can only admire the OBEY campaign for Aung San Suu Kyi. She still remains imprisoned with thousands of other political prisoners who fraught for change. With the persecution of monks, the rape and murder of ethnic women, and over 50,000 children forced into becoming soldiers how can people continue to turn a blind eye. This cause should undoubtedly be on the world agenda. Therefore if you are in LA this Sunday you can stand to support the US campaign for Burma. All details can be found on the link below. You can also print out the poster and inform those around you. Read on for the full poster.

Here at Breaksof10 we have always strived to deliver one hundred percent original content. Therefore we jumped at the opportunity to create a unique photo shoot with American clothing brand Penfield for their new Autumn Winter range. Penfield have been on my wish list since the birth of the breaks as they strive to develop outdoor fashion wear with function, practicality and durability at heart. With a US heritage going back over three decades the brand has traveled a long way since the days of down filled jackets for workers in Massachusetts. However Penfield has managed to retain its original charm as it’s evolved into the brand we see today.

I’ve known Ricky for a few years now, he’s a few years older then me, and was always one of the better riders in Leeds that had the time of day for little grommet riders like me when I was 15. He recently upped sticks and moved in with girlfriend Kayti in York and quit his job and opening his own bike workshop in York. Feather cycles was born! I caught up with Ricky this weekend to find out more about the company, his reasons and what’s next!

It’s no secret between my friends that I love Vans, always have, and I wear nothing else. So I’ve got to admit, even though I can’t afford any of these, I get a little bit excited when Vans drop a new Vault collection, I almost start drooling over the computer. Vans have pushed it again this year and it seems this collection is all about the details and quality fabrics. The wingtips above are full leather upper with some killer details. Read on for more pics.

When Eelus told me he had been busy in the studio I was eagerly anticipating his latest work. A sneak peak and whispers circulating his closest network only fed my intrigue. High Hopes did not disappoint with Eelus’ trademark stark colour contrasts and emotive imagery. Eelus described the piece as a “slightly haunting image” based on many dreams he’s had. “It’s kind of a ‘glass half empty, half full’ image. To me, she’s about to float off the edge and rise amongst the birds, to others she’s about to take her life and step from the safety of the rooftop to her death”. As always his work prompts interrogation, intrigue, and a dark mystery with no answers but those determined by ones self. Purchasing details are available after the jump. However dawdle at your own peril as its 1/1.

I’ve been a fan of David Lang’s photography for a while now, he does a lot of stuff for Red Bull and keeps an awesome blog with loads of the photos he does for them. Also, whilst browsing his site I noticed he’s set up an ihardlyknowher page, which is a really simple way to view somebodies flickr feed, which is awesome, so I set on up for me. Check it out.

I have always stated that I rate the artist before the artpiece. That the personality behind the work has huge influence on my eventual judgement of the final product. However all of this went out the window with The Cloud Commission. For some time now I have admired his work from a distance and known only the artpiece. The bold workings of a person I know absolutely nothing about. Therefore I take great pleasure in sharing the outcome of a long overdue meet last week. I’m glad to say that meeting the person behind the piece has reinforced my connection with his work. My first Clouds piece is at the framers and its sure to be the first of many. Full Interview after the jump…

I was first aware of Gavin through my friend Lewis Hay, who showed me his blog about a year and a half ago. His work has always impressed me, whether it’s photos, design or vinyl toys, Gavin always puts 150% into everything he does, and always comes across as extremely positive and forward thinking. Like many skaters these days Gavin has made the move into riding fixed a lot more, and as usual, he can’t just ride fixed, he went out and made a film about Bristol’s large fixie community. The result is ‘BOIKZMOIND’, which he co-made with ‘Makinov’ (Jonny Clooney). The result is what is shaping up to be an epic video. I caught up with Gavin to find out more about the video. Plus, check out the awesome trailer after the jump.

Last weekend London witnessed the last leg of the 2009 Red Bull X Fighters series and the crowning of Nate Adams as the series winner. With the backdrop of Battersea Power Station and a London skyline the location paralleled the magnitude of the event. In attendance were the worlds finest Freestyle Motorcross athletes of today including last years series winner; Mat Rebeaud, recent face of London Robbie Maddison, the super stylish Eigo Sato of Japan, Rockstars Mike Mason, and none other than the seventeen year old child prodigy; Levi Sherwood of New Zealand. With the roar of 18,000 people, the worlds gnarliest fmx riders, and a Red Bull formula 1 car to boot the atmosphere was nothing short of electric.
