Last year I was made aware of a great coming together of talent for truly decent cause. Basically all the turf wars, tagger feuds, and art fag labels were dropped in order to raise some much needed cash and awareness for homeless people across the UK. The layout is simple; A huge number of talents submit an original piece upon A4/A2 cardboard for sale with all proceeds to the cause. Last year the outcome was some truly stunning pieces and well over £1000 towards The Big Issue Foundation. This years event is held at the Skylight Cafe on Thursday 3rd December 2009 with all proceeds to Crisis.

I first heard about Jaymo & Andy George a while back through internet hype on their club night ‘Moda’ in Lincoln. At this point they were doing very well for themselves and had one of the coolest clubs outside London, which big names every month gracing the decks. Next Radio 1 did an essential mix with them and it alerted me to the fact that these two guys like, and DJ, the exact same music as me. Next thing I know they have a show on Radio 1, big headline gigs and releasing amazing remixes. So it’s comes quite a shock when I’m sat in Salsa cafe in Newcastle with them having lunch, after a pretty hectic and crazy night at Rub a Dub Dub, and they’re two of the soundest and most down to earth people I’ve ever met. These two have done big things this year, and next year is only going ot get better for them. I present to you, Jaymo & Andy George….
Simply a refreshing completed piece of music with the live act to match Me My Head have commanded my attention for the last twelve months and have now released Survival In No Man’s Land for the worlds listening pleasure. Gaining special access to the completed product the material soon became a regular feature on my eardrums and stands as one of the greatest debuts albums I have had the pleasure to hear. Next years festival season is sure to feature this post punk four piece and the long dark winter nights in the Brighouse recording studio will fade into insignificance in the face of thousands of fans. This emotion filled raw expression of music is available via the usual suspects; iTunes, play.com, HMV, spotify etc etc. Simply follow the link:
My friend David Stinton recently went out and shot a series of b&w film photos documenting Leeds at night. I love how it gives an impression of desolance and eeriness, two things that I would never associate with my hometown. I threw in a couple of photos of his girlfriend too. Check them out after the jump.
Fresh from Kentucky, here’s a video of Prefab77′s wheat paste install at the BLDG gallery. Looks amazing! They’re in New York right now and Marc has been posting loads of photos on his twitter.
Breaksof10 lives simply to showcase the enthusiasm and passion we share for those who pioneer and strive to develop and travel beyond the ordinary. These human anomalies showcase unrivalled drive and creativity in the day to day working of their craft. In each discipline there are those who compete to be the best – for the acclaim, the kudos, the esteem. For Bboy, and Red Bull BC1, the motivating factor for sixteen of the worlds finest consists of something deeper. Within the circle it’s about the battle, behind the eyes of every Bboy is a struggle, fuelled by individual circumstance, internal conflict, an overwhelming affliction to succeed. Each will enter, all will leave everything they have, only one will walk out and stand as Red Bull BC1 champion.

For me the Levi’s OnesToWatch campaign stands as the most significant, credible, and creatively original coming together of both brand and music we see today. No other campaign demonstrates such genuine passion for music across such a diverse range of genres even close to their standard. Now celebrating its fifth year Levi’s OnesToWatch further cements its reputation as stage to the inspiring, unique, and the new with an awe inspiring week of events. This week sees the LOTW settle in Hoxton Bar & Kitchen and Cargo for five nights of handpicked acts guaranteed to capture hearts and minds. Breaksof10 is proud to announce the Levi’s OnesToWatch 5 Night Revue line up…
Terry Kennedy is some boy. It took him about 3 years from learning to skate to turning pro, he has a signature shoes with Supra, epic video sections, in rap group ‘Fly Society’ and now can add this awesome co-lab hat with Quintin to the list. I’m going to cop myself one of the black ones, so so nice. Check ‘em out after the jump.
