This particular capsule collection of shoe may resonate quite well with our readers in the North East, as it resembles many of the boozer’s round this way. New Balance and Crooked Tongues have come together to put out this three shoe collection, and no minor detail is left untouched. They boast pub sofa style leather uppers, swirly curtain linings and carpet inserts complete with beer mug stains. They even come free with a beer mat and with pub livery on the tongue. This is quite the collectable piece, and to celebrate New Balance and Crooked Tongues threw a launch party in a proper British pub, the Red Lion in East London, complete with folk singer and real pub food, and of course, pints and pork scratchings. Check out more photos after the jump.

Sheffield’s finest, Drop Dead clothing, have been going from strength to strength since their inception. Often pigeonholed as a brand aimed only at a small niche culture, this collection proves otherwise, and the wide range of artists they support is further testament to that. Last week I shot a small percentage of their new range, which goes a little way to demonstrate the variance across the line. I urge you to check out their site however and browse all they have to offer, plus if you’re in London, check out their store on Brick Lane!

Van’s have recently refurbished their Carnaby Street store in London, and to co-incide they held a little soiree which showcased the recent fundraising for the Teenage Cancer Trust, called Vans ‘Teenage Kicks’. The event involved various currently relavent celebrities customising a pair of Vans’ slip-on however they saw fit, with the finished article going on ebay on the 1st September, and the resulting profits handed over to the Teenage Cancer Trust. Breaks were there and check some photos after the jump, as well as a photo of Grizzle from the Daily Street working some moves on a real life lady.

Quintin have just released previews of their up coming Holiday 2010 collection. They’ve kept it very winter appropriate, with the addiction of a dope fitted 5 panel dog eared cap, amongst the usual tight collection of fitted’s and snapbacks. There’s more pictures after the jump, and a ‘Quintin Quickie’ with SF-based BMX shredder Wolfman.

When the opportunity first arose to interview the guys over at King Apparel, I was initially dubious, seeing as the boys at the Daily Street had already done a fine job. However, I decided to go a different route, and talk about the trials and tribulations of starting up and running a UK streetwear brand. You see obstacles and pitfalls are something that King have had their fair share of, yet regardless of this, have built and amazing brand in a relatively short space of time. When I went to shoot the photos to accompany this interview yesterday, Tim (right) told me of more recent challenges they’re currently facing, just proved that its not all fun and games running a brand.
The brand is currently maturing, and after seeing a sneak peek of next years collections, I’m really impressed with where they’re going, really good quality cut n sew pieces with intricate details, while still retaining it’s London heritage and without moving away from the brand’s ethos. Tim took time out to answer some questions on the above matters, so check it out!

You remember Crayola crayons right? From when you were a kid? Chances are you drew with them at school, or if you rode the short bus, probably stuffed them in your mouth. Me? I drew masterpieces on my parents walls at home, however they didn’t really see them as particularly praiseworthy pieces of art. Regardless, I’m stoked to see that my favourite shoe company, and the only shoe that ever adorns my feet, Vans, have teamed up with Crayola to launch this capsule collection. Do you know how many crayons Crayola produce each year? 3 Billion! Serious. That’s a lot of crayon. Anyway, check them out below…

Sole heaven has been running online for two years now, and has recently moved into a space in Hoults Yard in Newcastle, in order to open a ‘sneaker lounge’. The move to also open a bricks and mortar shop came about as they wanted to offer the customer more of a personal shopper experience, and a relaxed environment so choose your shoes. I’ve gotta say, they’ve got it spot on; a great range, they’re knowledgable and friendly, and because it’s not really in town, only sneaker heads will go, so you’re in good company. More info and photos after the jump.
