The Hurricane

04.09.10

I once said I would like to post more about some of my favourite movies. Well after a rollercoaster few weeks it just felt right to spend my Saturday with a true gem. I was introduced to the Hurricane via a high school teacher when studying Black Civil Rights in US history. This was a subject I would eventually research for my degree. The film, released in 1999, stars Denzel Washington, and depicts the trials and tribulations of Rubin “Hurricane” Carter. I’ll ramble on after the jump if you’re game for some insight.

Red Bull X Fighters 2010 – London

30.08.10

14th August saw the Red Bull X Fighters tour roll into London and land slap bang in front of Battersea Power Station. Playing host to the worlds best FMX riders, the stage was set for a monumental contest. The weather however, had other ideas, and after a large downpour between qualifying and finals, the qualifying results stood and the riders decided to give the crowd a damn good show, and what a show it was! 18 year old Levi Sherwood tok the win, with ‘the destroyer’ Nate Adam’s coming a close second. We were there and friend of the breaks Rich Kenworthy was on hand to capture it all.

Stalled ‘Zine

07.08.10

My good friend Angus knocked up this awesome ‘zine for his final project at Uni. It features some top notch photography and some interviews with two of the most talented BMXer’s in York. I’ve been a fan of Angus’ photography for years and he pretty much taught me how to use a camera, so I’m loving that’s he’s put this together. It also features some photography by Scott Tedder, which you may remember being featured here.

Alcoholic Faith Mission

02.08.10

I remember when Papergarden Records was just a small barren, water-deprived, under-grown garden of just a few struggling bands… but no more, they’ve blossomed into a full-rostered label that pumps out amazing music! Think Mighty Tiger, Emanuel and the Fear, Peasant and now… think, Copenhagen’s very own, Alcoholic Faith Mission.

Quintin Quickie with Chase Hawk

26.07.10

Our favourite hat company Quintin have just added BMX shredder Chase Hawk to the team, and fired over this quick video of him warming up in the X Games park section. Did they build a whole concrete park just for the X Games? That’s mental if they did, the park looks bezerk!

Charge Bikes 2011 Launch

25.07.10

Last week Charge Bikes launched their 2011 range at Red Bull UK HQ in London. Friend of the Breaks Suffocake from The Daily Street went down to check it out, and sent through these awesome photos. The range is looking strong this year, and this UK company is going from strength to strength, and contrary to popular belief, within the range you’ll find bikes to suit most, not just the track bikes and fixie’s they’re famed for. They also have an extensive range of parts in a range of colours, and I can see some of my hard earned cash going towards sprucing up my personal ride.

Tron Legacy

21.07.10

The Tron Legacy teaser that was released towards the end of last year captured the hearts and minds of our generation and beyond. For me, born early in the year of 86’ I was introduced to Tron by my parents, it was the ultimate young boys fantasy, a world within a computer program. The film made spandex acceptable and accelerated frisbee beyond its previous appeal.  Visually, its safe to say nothing had come close and therefore the challenge was on for the next movie. Almost twenty years after its first incarnation Tron Legacy seems to be wielding the same weight and from these pictures will dazzle and amaze.

Cock A Snook

16.06.10

I love getting new ink, however it’s definitely been a while since I have graced the chair. So, having pondered the concept I put it to Kerry-Anne over at Cock a Snook Newcastle to pull it all together. This is from stage one and I was stoked Tom could make it down to shoot. Have a spy.
