Sheffield’s finest, Drop Dead clothing, have been going from strength to strength since their inception. Often pigeonholed as a brand aimed only at a small niche culture, this collection proves otherwise, and the wide range of artists they support is further testament to that. Last week I shot a small percentage of their new range, which goes a little way to demonstrate the variance across the line. I urge you to check out their site however and browse all they have to offer, plus if you’re in London, check out their store on Brick Lane!

I appear to have amassed another load of portraits I’ve taken on my trusty 35mm SLR camera, I now have over 100 that I like, and I’m not really sure what to do with them? In the meantime however, here is as good place as any, so hit the link so see the fourth dump of my bumbling photo skills.

14th August saw the Red Bull X Fighters tour roll into London and land slap bang in front of Battersea Power Station. Playing host to the worlds best FMX riders, the stage was set for a monumental contest. The weather however, had other ideas, and after a large downpour between qualifying and finals, the qualifying results stood and the riders decided to give the crowd a damn good show, and what a show it was! 18 year old Levi Sherwood tok the win, with ‘the destroyer’ Nate Adam’s coming a close second. We were there and friend of the breaks Rich Kenworthy was on hand to capture it all.

Sole heaven has been running online for two years now, and has recently moved into a space in Hoults Yard in Newcastle, in order to open a ‘sneaker lounge’. The move to also open a bricks and mortar shop came about as they wanted to offer the customer more of a personal shopper experience, and a relaxed environment so choose your shoes. I’ve gotta say, they’ve got it spot on; a great range, they’re knowledgable and friendly, and because it’s not really in town, only sneaker heads will go, so you’re in good company. More info and photos after the jump.

I usually hate people telling me I’m lucky, but since this isn’t about my job, in this sense I am really lucky. I have a lot of friends who are all constantly on their grind making amazing music, just the other day my flatmate Jay got in at 9am from the studio after finishing the latest Decibel latest track, and it’s BEZERK. But it’s great, I DJ for fun, once a week, and do it for the love of music and an escape from my intense job, and what makes it better is getting to play all my friends music, its a great feeling, and I’m proud to watch them grow and improve with every tune. After the jump is a selection of the new music some of my friends are putting out, which may seem a little biased, but trust me, I would not be posting it here if I didn’t fully believe in the music and them. Enjoy.

Last week Charge Bikes launched their 2011 range at Red Bull UK HQ in London. Friend of the Breaks Suffocake from The Daily Street went down to check it out, and sent through these awesome photos. The range is looking strong this year, and this UK company is going from strength to strength, and contrary to popular belief, within the range you’ll find bikes to suit most, not just the track bikes and fixie’s they’re famed for. They also have an extensive range of parts in a range of colours, and I can see some of my hard earned cash going towards sprucing up my personal ride.

I was going to write an intro for this but Gav explains it way better than I ever could….
I’m no photographer, all I know is that I love taking photographs. I was honoured when Tom asked if I’d be interest in doing a photo post, as I’ve always wanted to do more with my photo’s but never really pursued it. I think it’s because everything else creative I do, I’ve managed to shoehorn into my career somehow and made it more a professional thing.
Photography has always stayed in that hobby status, only branching outside and into professional-ish a couple of times. I think that’s why I love coming back to it so much, there’s no pressure or expectation from myself or anyone, I just enjoy capturing the things around me. Its taken me a long time to finally get to grips with the ins and outs of how cameras work, only this year I finally understood ISO and how that affects what I shoot. I first started shooting properly about 10 years ago, I bought myself a Pentax SLR, as I’d been enlisted to shoot my friends wedding (no idea why as I hadn’t previously shot anything of worth!) so that kickstarted me into the more ‘serious’ camera gang. That’s where it all started, using full auto to aperture priority to full manual – that journey has taken nearly a decade! Digital SLR’s sped up that process for me, as I could finally understand the difference between settings, seeing it in real time!
So, what you have here is a selection of my 20 favourite photos taken from the last 4 or 5 years, I hope you like…

Continuing the mixtape theme I’m going to go in the opposite direction to Danny and put out this half hour mix I put together recently. It’s pretty laden with bass-heavy tropical house and such-like, and it’s all peak time dance floor stomper tunes, including the recent release of Decibel’s ‘Gadget’ on High Rankin’s label ‘Suicide Dub’ (Look out for an interview soon). Tracklisting and download link after the jump. Enjoy.

The summer is well and truly upon us, and to bask in it’s glory we hit the beach in non other than Insight’s SS10 collection. It’s one of their strongest yet, and is the perfect way to ‘suit up’ this summer. The line focuses on it’s surfing heritage, while also featuring capsule collections from their artist collaboration programmes. You can check out Insight on their website or buy online at our friends at Electrik Sheep.

Evolution Festival in Newcastle rolled around again this year, and it was just as good, if not better, than it’s always been. Our man Rich was there with his camera, and captured these amazing images.
