Just had word of this roof top collaboration by Remi Rough, Two One, and Darren Henderson. Awesome.

It’s getting harder and harder to pay Dale over at Soleheven a visit these days without coming away a little lighter in the pocket. This used to be confined to simply sneakers however over the last six to twelve months he’s been hunting out snapback and knapsack brands to compliment his footwear selection. These are top of the pops.

Street art heavyweights the London Police set their sights on Newcastle and ready the Lads for a week of painting walls, hanging originals and signing prints at Newcastle space Unit44. With the subject matter revolving around the North East itself the two original pieces and two print runs will depict Newcastle’s iconic architecture and local heroes such as Hank Marvin, ACDC, & Kevin Keegan. The night is sure to go down a treat with Patrón Perfect Margaritas and Brooklyn Lager circulating the guests.

After the opening itself their is talk of visiting the huge planned mural at local stop The Shipp Inn.

None other than Norman Jay took time out of his busy schedule to talk to Steven for Breaksof10 today. Now Norman doesn’t really need an introduction. He’s experienced a life time of acclaim from pirate radio, to the BBC, and his infamous Good Times Sound System parties. He’s graced events all over the world headlining clubs, warehouses, and intimate parties laying down his own blend of rare groove, hip hop, house, & disco.  Now on the verge of bringing this energy to the North Easts intimate, Funktion One powered, ‘TheCUT’ Steven had a few questions. I recently shot this photo of Pixel Pancho whilst he was staying with me here in the UK. He said that he was partying with a few tattooist friends and woke up with this. I think a part of him loved the tattoo as he laughed telling me he had supposedly started the job himself (he had no recollection of this) before his friends finished the job whilst he was passed out. However good luck explaining that one to mum. I love the photo and the tattoo so I looked for some more. Nothing serious about this post simply a look into the world of the knuckle bump.

Will house music ever be the same again?

When I think of my earliest memories of ‘real’ house music and what it meant to me growing up, I think of Todd Terry, Masters at Work, Tony Humphries, Frankie Knuckles & Danny Tenaglia…

Just mentioning those names gives me goosebumps, these people were the founding fathers of a scene that moulded the man writing this post now, so when I see official confirmation from the man himself that he’ll be hanging up his headphones, it makes me question where the industry is going, where it’s been and how it’s touched my life in so many ways.

It’s a period of reflection for Danny and subsequently for me, who always assumed these people would be there, providing the musical soundtrack to my life.
For me music has ‘always’ been the answer…

Anna Victoria Best was at hand to check out the new Casio concept store opening this week. Occupying two floors, the 933 sq ft store is set within Covent Garden Piazza and will be open to the public come April 21st. She snapped some of the findings.

Steven recently returned from London with a hand full of films and a massive smile on his face. He’s been waiting to go and see both the Damien Hirst exhibition since it was announced and the AOC’s Megaro Hotel installation since paint first hit the brick. He’s always had a keen eye and a passion for all things analogue. A passion that has been exploited by David, who continues to push all  here in the right direction, refining our perspective and application.

Much of this Steven said had to be seen with your own eyes. It’s a little bit naughty that he fired off a few shots in the name of the Breaksof10 readership. Enjoy.

Steven described looking up to take the photos and on looking left a whole line of people did the same. It’s sure to be photographed a few million times this summer.

Inside is equally as impressive. On arrival Steven introduced himself & the concierge simply asked him to place his bags down whilst taking photos – Steven described his tone as if he has said this 100 times of late.

This just hit my inbox from North East DJ/Production collective Last Waltz as they prepare for their trip to London on Friday, April 27th for BIXON. It looks like a big year for the Last Waltz  boys as they gear up for releases on Labels including Mule Musiq’s “Endless Flight”, underground vinyl imprint “World Unknown”, Bristol based “Futureboogie”, fellow North Easteners “Audio Parallax” and their own label, Object of Distraction. With this being their first collective podcast out on the airwaves we thought it would be rude not to share.

‘It’s the first time the 3 of us have managed to find the time to select a mix together. It touches on our tastes in house/acid/disco etc, but there’s only so much you can say in less than 2 hours. We’ve included 3 exclusive tracks which are due for release later this year.’
